Wireless Festival is expected to return despite the cancellation of its 2026 event in London. Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn said the long-running festival still has a future, although no new dates or lineup details have been announced.
Before the cancellation, Benn defended the decision to book Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, as criticism grew from politicians, community groups, and major sponsors. He argued that people should be given the opportunity to show change after acknowledging harmful behavior.
The situation changed when the UK government withdrew Ye’s travel authorization. Ye had been scheduled to headline all three nights at Finsbury Park, and organizers canceled the festival soon after the decision was confirmed.
The booking had already faced strong opposition because of Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks. Several sponsors also withdrew their support before the government’s decision. Organizers later confirmed that ticket holders would receive refunds.
Wireless has remained a major part of London’s summer music calendar for years. Benn’s comments suggest the festival will continue, but organizers have not confirmed when it will return or who could appear at the next edition.
